Sniper: Year One
Sniper: Year One Instructions
Aim and shoot your rifle with your mouse and left mouse button - hit the spacebar to clear you sight, and get rid of your scope; hit it again to bring back your scope. Since the game gives vague descriptions of targets, you'll have to guess-and-check during missions - don't worry if you have to repeat a level a few times.

Sniper: Year One Walkthrough
Sniper: Year One is, as you guessed, a sniper game. In it, you'll have to complete twelve levels - missions - after you've completed a mission, you'll be given your accuracy, and as you progress through the game, it'll keep track of your accuracy. You'll receive 50% accuracy for shooting a target anywhere in the body, while headshots count as 100%; you'll want to go for headshots.
Sniper Year One is a classic in the world of online sniper games and for good reason. It's engrossing, entertaining and fairly difficult. Those who are experienced with sniper games probably aren't going to find the actual shooting all that difficult, but getting a high score can pose a bit more of a challenge. For newcomers to the genre, simply hitting your target is going to be difficult, but that challenge is what makes the game so much fun. This is really a game that anyone, regardless of skill or experience level will be able to enjoy. Although it rewards skill, the more you play the better you'll get. With several different missions to complete that get steadily harder as you progress, this game is one that any fan of sniper games needs to play.
The objective in Sniper Year One isn't just to take out your targets but to take them out with the best shot you can get which is really what sets it apart from most of the other sniper games online. Accuracy is rewarded here, so if you want a high score, you're going to need to aim your shots carefully. Each target will have two kill zones you need to hit. If you don't hit your target in one of those two kill zones, the shot will be counted as a miss. Hitting one of the kill zones will count as a hit, but if you want to get a high score, simply taking out the target won't be enough. You're scored on accuracy. A head shot counts as one hundred percent accuracy while a body shot will only count as fifty percent. If you want to finish the game with the best score possible, you'll have to get the head shot each time. That isn't always easy and newcomers to the genre may not be up to that challenge in the beginning. More experienced players, though, will love that challenge and should be able to meet the goal although may find it a bit harder later in the game when things get harder.
You can choose between playing easy mode in Sniper: Year One or you can go with hard mode, where your score is multiplied by an additional 25%. If you're going for a highscore, then go ahead and play in hard mode, but if you just want to have fun picking off targets, easy mode is your best bet in this sniping game.
Each level will consist of a simple screen - you have a scoped view, and a broad view - which is accessible by pressing the spacebar. After reading the description for the level, you should have a good idea of who to go for - but sometimes you'll have to pick off extra targets or set off alarms to complete the level. While this can be tedious in certain cases, it gives a puzzle aspect to the game, and makes it a lot more fun. Instead of mindless shooting, you'll have to figure out how to get to your target.
The greatest thing about Sniper Year One is that it offers you the choice between easy mode and hard mode. Hard mode offers a twenty-five percent bump in your score, but it is considerably more difficult than easy mode. Although that does make hard mode more appealing, newcomers to sniper games should stick with easy mode; at least for the first few games. Once you're a little more confident with your shooting skills and have racked up a bit of experience, you can give hard mode a try, but starting off there will likely leave you feeling overwhelmed. Experienced sniper game players, on the other hand, are going to want to start out with hard mode. This will give you the biggest challenge and the most points; making it much easier for you to get a high score while providing you with a more entertaining gaming experience.
Sniper: Year One is more than just your average sniping game. You'll have to figure out how to make certain targets vulnerable, you'll have to avoid shooting innocent civilians, and you'll be able to retry any level when you need to. It's fun, but not mindless fun, and that's what sets this sniping game apart from the rest.
As with most sniper games, you will need to read your mission objective carefully in Sniper Year One. Don't just skim over it and go into the level with your guns blazing. In some levels you will need to take out all of the enemies on the screen. In other levels, you will have one specific target and killing civilians will cause you to fail the mission. There is always a solution to the level. You just need to look for it. If you're having a hard time with a particular level, read over the objective again. Look for any hints or clues contained in the objective and then try the level again. For example, in the first mission you're told your target has bad habits. When you're taken to the scene, you'll see several people. Look for the one that looks to have 'bad habit'. It's pretty safe to assume it's the guy that's smoking. Shoot him in the head and you're ready to move on.
Overall, Sniper Year One is an entertaining sniper game that offers something for every fan on the genre regardless of how long they have been playing. If you're really looking for a challenge; try to make it through the game with one hundred percent accuracy the whole way through. That means no missed shots and no body shots. It'll be a hard feat to accomplish but if you read your objectives carefully and focus on aim, you should be able to do it. The great thing about this sniper game is that it really gives newcomers to the genre a chance to hone their skills which is something that can't be said for many of the other sniper games online. Regardless of how long you have been playing sniper games or how skilled you feel you are, you'll find the challenge you're looking for in this game.
